Government Announces Financial Support for Families of Gen-Z Protest Victims


Kathmandu: The government has announced a financial aid package for the families of individuals who lost their lives during the Gen-Z protests on September 8 and 9. Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Jagdish Kharel, shared that each bereaved family will receive Rs 1 million.



According to National News Agency Nepal, the Council of Ministers convened today and agreed on this financial support plan. In addition to the Rs 1 million compensation, the government will provide Rs 500,000 for death rituals, food, and transportation costs to the families of the Gen-Z protest martyrs. However, this assistance will not extend to inmates and juveniles who died while attempting to escape from jails and juvenile reform centers.
