Madhyapur thimi: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has affirmed the government’s commitment to conducting the upcoming House of Representatives election in a free and fair manner. Addressing an event organized by the National Luminary Shankhadhar Sakhwa Foundation, PM Karki expressed her confidence that all political parties and sectors of society would support the government in this endeavor.
According to National News Agency Nepal, PM Karki emphasized the government’s responsibility to serve the Nepali people by addressing the voices of Gen-Z in line with the Constitution of Nepal. She highlighted the importance of creating an environment where citizens can exercise their voting rights without fear, aiming to strengthen democracy, achieve economic prosperity, and protect citizens’ rights.
PM Karki expressed sadness over the recent loss of young lives and injuries during the Gen-Z-led movement against corruption. She reiterated the government’s commitment to advancing the process of indicating the Nepal Sambat on notes issued by the Nepal Rastra Bank after consultations with relevant parties.
The Prime Minister underscored the government’s decision to incorporate the Nepal Sambat in official documents, urging ministries to implement it effectively. She noted that the Nepal Sambat, initiated in recognition of Shankhadhar Sakhwa’s contributions to society, holds significant historical and cultural importance.
Highlighting the need to follow Shankhadhar Sakhwa’s path to eliminate poverty and inequality, PM Karki stressed prioritizing national interests over individual ones. During the program, she garlanded Sakhwa’s statue and launched a bulletin by the Foundation. She also honored cultural scholar Chhatra Bahadur Kayastha and Nepah Pasa Pucha, USA with the Shankhadhar Sirapa award.
Foundation Chairman Gyanram Shrestha and other dignitaries emphasized the need for more research on Shankhadhar Sakhwa and the full implementation of the Nepal Sambat.
