Kathmandu: The government has arranged a job for the widow of the late journalist Suresh Rajak. Sujan Magiya, the spouse of Rajak, has been appointed to the position of computer operator at the Security Printing Centre. This initiative was taken by the Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Jagadish Kharel.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the appointment was formalized during a program organized at the Communications Ministry. Devraj Dhungana, Executive Director of the Centre, handed over the appointment letter to Sujan Magiya in the presence of Minister Kharel and the Ministry Secretary, Radhika Aryal. This gesture aims to support the family of journalist Rajak, who tragically lost his life in a fire while covering a demonstration in Tinkune, Kathmandu, on March 28, 2025.
During the event, Minister Kharel emphasized the state’s responsibility to act as a guardian for journalists who risk their lives to gather news for the nation and its people. He highlighted the importance of this initiative, noting that it aligns with the Federation of Nepali Journalists’ requests to support Rajak’s family. Kharel also mentioned plans to recognize Suresh Rajak as a martyr and pledged to arrange free higher education for his children.
In addition, Purushottam Magiya, a relative of Suresh, called for justice by urging the government to hold those responsible for the incident accountable. He also requested that Suresh be declared a martyr and suggested building a statue of him at Tinkune in his honor.
