Govt Awards Bantamweight Champion Rabindra Dhant with Rs 500 Thousand


Kathmandu: The government has decided to honour bantamweight champion Rabindra Dhant from Bajhang district with a cash prize of Rs 500 thousand. Dhant recently achieved victory against his rival in the Matrix Fight Night held in India, showcasing his exceptional skills in the ring.



According to National News Agency Nepal, the decision to reward Dhant was made during a meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Monday. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli announced the decision through a post on his social media platform, highlighting the government’s support and recognition of Dhant’s remarkable achievement.



In addition, Rabindra Dhant’s coach will also be awarded a cash prize of Rs 200 thousand for his role in preparing the athlete for the competition. Last Saturday, Dhant secured a significant win by defeating Indian champion Chungreng Koren in the wrestling event, marking a proud moment for the nation.
