Govt Sanctions MSPA to Bolster LNG Procurement from Spot Market

Dhaka: The government today gave the green light to a proposal in principle to sign a Master Sale and Purchase Agreement (MSPA) between Petrobangla and selected firms for the procurement of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) from the spot market.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the agreement will be executed under the frameworks of the ‘Public Procurement Act, 2006’ and the ‘Public Procurement Rules, 2008’. This decision emerged from the 7th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Economic Affairs for the year, which convened at the Cabinet Division Conference Room at the Bangladesh Secretariat. The meeting was chaired by Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed.

Further developments during the meeting included the in-principle approval of a proposal to amend the Public Procurement Act, 2006. This proposal was tabled by the Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED) and received the nod from the committee. The meeting witnessed the presence of concerned advisers, alongside secretaries related to the agenda.
