HAN Urges Energy Minister for Equal Electricity Supply to Hotels as Industries.


Kathmandu: The Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN), representing hoteliers across the nation, has made a formal request to the Energy Minister to ensure an uninterrupted electricity supply to hotels, comparable to that provided to industries.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the HAN delegation, led by President Binayak Shah, met with the Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka, to advocate for the hotel sector to receive discounted electricity tariffs and consistent power supply similar to the manufacturing industry. The association emphasized the necessity for policy adjustments to facilitate the use of electric stoves in hotels and the provision of time of day (TOD) meters. The delegation also highlighted various existing legal provisions regarding the government’s treatment of the hotel industry.

In response, Minister Khadka acknowledged the importance of the private sector in bolstering the national economy. He stated that the current government policy is geared towards e
ncouraging private sector growth, recognizing that a robust private sector is essential for economic strength.
