Hasina, Her Allies Accused of Propaganda with Smuggled Funds: Sarjis

Panchagarh: Sarjis Alam, a key figure in the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and chief organizer of the Jatiya Nagorik Committee, has accused deposed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her allies of using smuggled money to spread rumors designed to confuse and divide the public. Speaking at the Skill Development Youth Summit, part of the month-long Tarunya Utsav at Rahman Government College in Panchagarh, Sarjis emphasized the people’s ability to see through these tactics.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Sarjis stated that the Bangladeshi population is discerning and does not succumb to the rumors allegedly propagated by Hasina’s faction. He encouraged citizens to focus on their aspirations and the spirit of the nation, rather than being distracted by unfounded claims. Other notable speakers at the event included local Deputy Commissioner Sabet Ali and Superintendent of Police Mizanur Rahman Munshi, along with students from various educational institutions.

During the summit, Sarjis highlighted the crucial role of young women in shaping the future of Bangladesh, asserting that their involvement is pivotal for national progress. He urged both young men and women to contribute actively to the country’s development by taking initiative in their respective areas.

Earlier, Sarjis and Senior Secretary of Home Affairs Ministry Nasimul Ghani inaugurated beautification efforts at Panchagarh Railway Station. In a statement, Sarjis expressed confidence in the current interim government’s handling of national affairs, noting their inclusive approach to decision-making and predicting transparent elections with the support of Dr. Yunus.

Sarjis reflected on past political events, including the controversial 1/11 incident, suggesting it was artificially instigated. He advocated for unity among political factions to prevent authoritarian forces from exploiting divisions for their gain. The event also saw the presence of Advocate Adam Sufi, former Mayor Touhidul Islam, and other local leaders.
