HC Cancels Recruitment of 6,531 Primary School Teachers in Dhaka and Chattogram

Dhaka: The High Court (HC) today canceled the process to recruit 6,531 candidates as assistant teachers at government primary schools in Dhaka and Chattogram divisions. A High Court division bench of Justice Fatema Najib and Justice Sikder Mahmudur Razi pronounced the judgment, declaring absolute a rule issued earlier in this regard.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the High Court in its judgment instructed the concerned authorities to adhere to the Appellate Division’s latest verdict on the quota system and to publish recruitment results afresh. Deputy Attorney General Akhter Hossain Md Abdul Wahab communicated that the directives aim to ensure compliance with the established legal framework.

The legal proceedings were initiated when thirty candidates filed a writ challenging the decision to publish lists of successful candidates. They accused the authorities of implementing a quota system in the recruitment of candidates from Dhaka and Chattogram divisions during the third phase of the process. Following a hearing on the matter, the High Court issued the rule and temporarily halted the recruitment process for six months.

With the court’s recent judgment, the rule has been declared absolute, mandating the revision of the recruitment process in accordance with the Appellate Division’s guidelines.
