Kathmandu: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Jagadish Kharel, has communicated that the government is committed to holding the election on the slated date. Addressing a programme organised by the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Minister Kharel clarified that the government has focused its attention on holding the election on March 5 as per its mandate.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the main priority of the government is to conduct the election in a free, impartial, and peaceful manner with significant participation of the people on the slated date. Minister Kharel requested all concerned bodies, including political parties, to engage in the election process.
The Communications Minister expressed confidence that the government would receive support from the FNJ to create a favorable environment for the election, especially as the Election Commission has already prepared the calendar for March 5. He noted that the state mobilizes security personnel effectively, and minor incidents should not affect their morale or create a negative environment.
FNJ President Nirmala Sharma assured that the FNJ would play a supportive role in the upcoming election. She emphasized the willingness of the FNJ to collaborate with the government and affirmed the positive role journalists would play in the electoral process.
