Parsa: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has directed relevant authorities to collaborate with various agencies to halt the illegal import and export activities at checkpoints. During a meeting of the Revenue Leakage Control Coordination Committee at the District Administration Office in Parsa, he urged entities such as local administration, customs offices, and security bodies to work together to combat smuggling.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Home Minister Lekhak emphasized the importance of coordination among all relevant bodies to control revenue leakage and take necessary actions to prevent other criminal activities in border areas. He called for unified efforts to address these challenges effectively.
Chief Customs Administrator of Birgunj Customs Office, Bishnu Prasad Gyawali, reported an increase in revenue collection at the Birgunj Customs Office in the last fiscal year compared to the previous one. He expressed optimism that the office would meet its revenue targets for the current fiscal year, stressing the need for all concerned bodies to unite against smuggling.
Other officials, including Hari Prasad Sharma, Chief of Revenue Investigation Office in Pathalaiya, Madhes province’s Nepal Police Chief, Chief District Officer of Parsa Toya Narayan Subedi, and Uma Prasad Chaturvedi, also shared their perspectives during the meeting.
