Stakeholders at a conference highlighted the potential of hydrogen energy to boost economic growth.
In a conference themed ‘Discussion on the commercialization of hydrogen energy in Nepal: Opportunities and Challenges’, organized by the Nepal Energy Foundation, the speakers opined Nepal could reap economic benefits by exporting hydrogen energy which could address the global concerns towards clean energy.
Dr Ram Prasad Dhital, Chairperson of Electricity Regulatory Commission, asserted that Nepal can deliver a lot in this sector by leveraging subsidized loan and grant on the clean energy.
He also called for an effective implementation of the hydrogen policy framed by the government and said that it was imperative to demonstrate Nepal’s capabilities to generate hydrogen energy.
Adhikari’s book launched
Meanwhile, a book authored by Krishna Adhikari, Rastriya Samachar Samiti’s Head of Feature Section, was launched on the occasion.
The book titled ‘Laghu Jalabidhyut Ra Digo Sanchalanko Abhyas’ (Micro hydro p
ower project and practice of sustainable operation) provides a comprehensive overview of Nepal’s micro hydro power sector.
The 132-page book has three parts and includes articles that reflect the condition of micro hydro power projects, community-based approaches on micro hydro power project, policy and provision for such hydro powers and potential of micro hydro power projects, among others.
