Patan: The High Court in Patan has issued an interim order preventing the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) from suspending its police chief, Rajunath Pande. A division bench comprising Judges Rishi Rajbhandari and Dilliratna Shrestha ruled that Pande should continue in his role. This development was confirmed by Parbati Hitan, the information officer at the High Court.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the Chief Administrative Officer at KMC, Saroj Guragain, had initially suspended Pande on June 3 for a period of six months. In response to this suspension, Pande filed a writ petition of certiorari, challenging the decision. The court’s order now allows Pande to continue his duties until a final hearing on the petition is conducted.
