Kapilvastu: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka, today inaugurated the implementation of the Shankarpur Lake Integrated Irrigation and Water Resources Conservation Project based in Bijayanagar rural municipality-2 in Kapilvastu. The project aims to ensure irrigation facilities for 700 hectares of agricultural land at the rural municipality’s wards 3 and 4.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the Water Resources Management Project is spearheading the initiative, with the contract signed on December 17, 2024, between the Project Office and the Babul Lumbini Sanskriti JV Siddharthanagar, Rupandehi. Project Chief Avinashi Sigdel highlighted that a total of 1,715 households in the locality will benefit from the project.
During the inauguration, Minister Khadka emphasized the importance of completing the project within the stipulated timeframe and urged the local community to remain vigilant to ensure its timely completion. The project has a two-year deadline and an estimated cost of Rs 190 million.
