JDS Alumni Association Forms New Leadership Committee


Dhaka: JDS Alumni Association, an organization of scholars who studied in Japan with scholarships, has formed a new committee for the upcoming two years, covering 2025 to 2026. The announcement came following the association’s annual general meeting, which took place at a hotel in the capital.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the newly appointed committee will see Mohammad Hasan Arif, Additional Secretary of the Economic Relations Division, stepping into the role of president. Meanwhile, Dr. Nazmus Sayadat, Joint Secretary of the Finance Division, will serve as the secretary general. The decision was formalized during the meeting held on Saturday.



The event was attended by prominent figures, including Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh SAIDA Shinichi, Planning Division Secretary Iqbal Abdullah Harun, JICA Chief Representative in Bangladesh ICHIGUCHI Tomohide, along with the newly appointed president and secretary general of the JDS Alumni Association. During the gathering, speakers emphasized the responsibility of JDS fellows to act as “game changers” in enhancing the relationship between Bangladesh and Japan. They highlighted the necessity for scholars to effectively utilize the education and expertise acquired in Japan to foster stronger economic ties and collaboration between the two countries.



The meeting also celebrated the significant contributions of JDS fellows in various sectors towards Bangladesh’s development. To mark the occasion, prizes were awarded to the winners of the ‘Slogan Writing’ competition focusing on Japan-Bangladesh relations.
