Dhaka: Junior U-19 boys’ and girls’ badminton tournament, on occasion of Festival of Youth 2025, began at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium in the capital on Monday with a theme of “Let’s change the country, change the world”.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, on the first day of the two-day meet, Mehedi Hasan Shuvo triumphed over Afzan Hamja Mahmud with scores of 21-18, 21-06. Raisul Islam defeated Riju Ahmed 21-6, 21-6. Fuad Hasan Fardil outplayed Wahid Miraj 21-7, 21-9. KM Fardin Soum emerged victorious against Jimteham Hossain with 21-12, 13-21, and 17-21. Meftahul Jannat defeated Ruhanul Islam 21-9, 21-16. Safakat Rahman Apurbo overcame Rezuan Ahmed 21-11, 21-10. Mahid Khan secured a win against Md Mishad with scores of 21-9, 21-13, and 21-19. Abdullah Al Siyam defeated Ashikur Rahman Arnab 21-17, 21-12 in the boys’ singles event.
In the girls’ singles event, Mathena Madhurjya Biswas defeated Isman Ara 21-10, 21-08. Afifa Khan Arin outplayed Amina Hasan Khushbu 21-3, 21-6. SK Pritha overcame Margarate Mugdho Biswas 21-7, 21-12. Jarin Oqbal Mohona defeated Rihoma Ferdous 21-6, 21-4 when the last report was available.
