Khatiwada Elected Chair of Parliamentary Hearing Committee


Kathmandu: Nepali Congress lawmaker Ramhari Khatiwada has been elected unopposed as the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee on Friday. The announcement was made during the Committee meeting chaired by senior member Pashupati Shumsher JB Rana.



According to National News Agency Nepal, Khatiwada was the sole candidate for the position following the resignation of the previous chairperson, Ishwari Devi Neupane. The chief whip of the Nepali Congress, Shyam Kumar Ghimire, had proposed Khatiwada, a Member of the House of Representatives, for the role. This proposal was supported by the chief whip of the CPN UML, Mahesh Kumar Bartaula.



Chairperson Khatiwada is set to take his oath of office and secrecy on Monday.
