Lama and Thakur Register Candidacies for Deputy Speaker


Kathmandu: Saraswoti Lama from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and Rubi Kumari Thakur from the Shram Sanskriti Party have filed their candidacies for the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR).



According to National News Agency Nepal, Lama’s candidacy has been proposed by Gyan Bahadur Shahi and seconded by Tahir Ali Bhat, Khusbu Oli, and Bharat Giri. Similarly, Thakur’s candidacy has been proposed by Aren Rai and seconded by Ashok Kumar Chaudhary and Ambika Devi Sangraula.



The Secretariat’s schedule set the time from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm today for the submission of notice proposing any member be elected as Deputy Speaker, as per Rule 8 (2) of the House of Representatives Regulations, 2079.



The notice regarding registration of nominations was planned to be published at 2:30 pm. The proposers of the candidates are responsible for presenting the proposal, while the supporters will endorse it. The notice of candidacies is set to be discussed at the meeting of the House at 4:00 pm on April 10 for decision-making.



The Constitution mandates that the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House be represented by different political parties and genders.
