Kathmandu: In memory of those who lost their lives during the Gen-Z protest on September 8 and 9, lamps were lit at Thamel, a major tourist centre in Kathmandu. Nighttime businessmen in Thamel lit lamps at Nursing Chowk today in tribute to those who lost their lives during the protests and held a mourning assembly. During the mourning assembly, Sahadev Dhamala, Vice Chair of the Thamel Tourism Development Council, paid tribute to the deceased and expressed condolences to their grieving families. A moment of silence was also observed on the occasion.
According to National News Agency Nepal, businesses in Thamel that were closed due to the protest have started to operate again. The council issued a statement urging that businesses operating at night to run until 10 PM for safety reasons. The council’s vice-chairman, Dhamala, urged everyone to operate their businesses safely.
