Kathmandu: In a session of the House of Representatives (HoR) today, lawmakers have urged the government to ensure free medical treatment for individuals injured in road accidents. This demand comes in the wake of a recent road mishap in Kavrebhanjyang.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Ramhari Khatiwada highlighted the need for the State to provide free treatment for road accident victims, emphasizing the necessity following a road incident that occurred today. He also called for the government to simplify the process for senior citizens obtaining national identity cards by allowing local governments to handle the service.
Devendra Paudel echoed Khatiwada’s concerns, advocating for complimentary medical care for road injuries and a stricter enforcement of road safety programs and traffic regulations to reduce accidents. Paudel criticized the lack of night-vision helicopter availability for nighttime rescues as a significant oversight.
Gyan Bahadur Shahi expressed dissatisfaction with the government’s failure to appoint Chief Administrative Officers at various local levels and noted that some local government employees have not received regular salaries. He also raised concerns about the decrease in fiscal equalization grants for local levels following the mid-year budget review.
Anita Devi accused people’s representatives of not cooperating adequately with government employees and urged the government to resolve disputes over the cable car project in Pathibhara, Taplejung.
Lalbir Chaudhary brought attention to the rising number of casualties and injuries from wildlife attacks, urging responsible entities to implement measures to address the issue.
Dr. Amaresh Kumar Singh emphasized the importance of regulating social media platforms to prevent activities that could disrupt social and communal harmony.
