Dhaka: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has included wicket-keeper batter Liton Das in the Bangladesh Tigers camp, which commences today at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. The camp is designed for players who are currently not part of the national team, as well as promising cricketers, to hone their skills and fitness.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the domestic cricket season is set to begin with the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) in the first week of March. Until then, cricketers will undergo training under the guidance of local coaches. BCB Cricket Operations Manager Shahriar Nafees stated, “The camp starts with a fitness session and later the cricketers will have skill training.” He mentioned that the camp typically takes place when players have some downtime, allowing them to stay sharp before the league begins.
Currently, the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium is lively with various training activities. Women cricketers are preparing for the upcoming Premier League, while the
Under-19 team is training at the Academy Ground. Meanwhile, the male cricketers in the Tigers camp have begun their training sessions indoors.
The Bangladesh national team is presently in Dubai for the Champions Trophy and will face India on February 19 to start their campaign. Following this, they will travel to Rawalpindi, Pakistan, to play against hosts Pakistan and New Zealand on February 24 and 27, respectively.
