Kathmandu: An airplane belonging to Air Arabia has overshot in the course of landing at Tribhuvan International Airport, in Kathmandu, this afternoon. The aircraft, which was about to land at TIA, suddenly overshot over Narephant due to a missed approach following ‘wind shear’, shared TIA Spokesperson, Rinji Sherpa.
According to National News Agency Nepal, a Kathmandu-bound aircraft of Air India from New Delhi was put on hold in the air at Simara due to adverse weather and landed at TIA a while ago. Similarly, a flight of Thai Airways was also held during flight for some time.
On Wednesday, an aircraft of Nepal Airlines coming from Narita of Japan, an aircraft of Qatar Airways, an Air India flight from New Delhi, a plane of Batik Air from Kuala Lumpur of Malaysia, and Fly Dubai had to hold in the sky due to low visibility.
Not only international flights, but domestic flights such as Buddha Air from Dhangadhi and Yeti Airlines from Pokhara were also held in the sky.
Flights have been disrupted in the country for the past one week due to low visibility following adverse weather conditions, according to TIA. Spokesperson Sherpa added that mostly international flights are being disrupted due to adverse weather as pre-monsoon related activities are becoming active and a weather system that brings rainfall is developing in Nepal.
Light to moderate rainfall occurred at various places in the country, including Kathmandu Valley, on Wednesday night. Mainly, rainfall had taken place in different parts of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki Provinces. According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the weather in hilly parts of these provinces would remain partly cloudy today, and light to moderate rainfall with lightning and thunder has been forecast for this afternoon.
