Lumbini Buddhist University to Establish Buddhist Study Centre in California


Lumbini: The Lumbini Buddhist University (LBU) has announced plans to establish a study centre in California, USA. The centre will offer Master level and short-term educational courses under the Faculty of Buddhist Studies. LBU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Subarna Lal Bajracharya made the announcement during a programme held in Lumbini.



According to National News Agency Nepal, the announcement was made at an event organized to present certificates to students from California who completed a short-term Buddhist education program. Prof Dr Bajracharya stated that the process for student admissions at the new centre will commence within a few weeks.



The University has partnered with the Enlight International Zen Meditation Centre to facilitate these educational programs in California. Recently, twenty-five students from California participated in a short-term educational program in Lumbini as part of this collaboration.



Dr Tilak Ram Acharya, Registrar of the University, revealed that LBU has signed agreements with more than 40 organizations to expand its international relations. He added that the University plans to gradually establish similar study centres globally to promote Buddhist education.



Manik Ratna Shakya, Dean of the Buddhist Education Faculty, noted that there is a growing interest among students in short-term educational programs. The Head Nun of the International Zen Meditation Centre expressed excitement about the partnership with LBU and anticipated further collaboration to advance Buddhist education.
