Kirtipur:Lumbini Lions have defeated Pokhara Avengers by 8 wickets in the match held under the Nepal Premier League (NPL) T20 cricket tournament. The game took place at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground.
According to National News Agency RSS, Lumbini restricted Pokhara to 97 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Lumbini then surpassed the victory target of 98 runs in just 11.4 overs. Captain Rohit Paudel, who scored 47 from 32 balls, and Niroshan Dickwell, with 27 from 26 balls, remained not out and guided their team to victory. D’Arcy Shot also contributed 13 runs in 6 balls.
Bipin Khatri was the only bowler from Pokhara to take a wicket, while Aasif Sheikh was run out. Earlier, after being invited to bat first, Pokhara’s innings saw Chamika Karunaratne top-scoring with 25 runs, followed by captain Kushal Bhurtel with 14, Mahedi Hasan with 13, and Kiran Thagunna adding 12 runs.
In Lumbini’s bowling department, Ruben Trumpelmann was impressive with 3 wickets, Tilak Bhandari claimed 2, and Sher Malla, Abhishesh Gautam, along with captain Rohit Paudel, each took 1 wicket. Lumbini Lions maintain their undefeated status in the current edition of the tournament, having secured two wins and shared points in another match canceled due to rain. Meanwhile, Pokhara remains winless, failing to secure a victory in the three matches they have played so far.
