Kathmandu: Lumbini Province Assembly Member Sarita Pun passed away on Saturday. A permanent resident of Taksera in Rukum Purba district, Pun died while receiving treatment at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Pun was elected as a province assembly member from the CPN (UML) under the proportional electoral system. CPN (UML) leader from Rukum Purba, Khemman Khadka, shared that Pun was taken to Kathmandu some days ago due to health issues.
Pun, who was a heart patient, underwent two critical surgeries in a short span of time. She gave birth to a baby girl following the first surgery, and an artificial valve was transplanted in her heart during the subsequent surgery, stated UML leader Khadka.
