Kathmandu: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development, Prakash Man Singh, has inaugurated the Mangala Devi Singh Senior Citizen Park at Basantanagar, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-6 today.
The Park is constructed with the financial support provided by the Bagmati Province Government’s Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Urban Development.
On the occasion, DPM Singh said that Mangala Devi Singh was the first woman leader to raise voice for securing the rights of women in Nepal.
“The Constitution has made provisions for inclusiveness and proportional representation in every sector. Women’s rights and representation has been guaranteed in the policy level. The movements connected to women in Nepal have been waged under Mangala Devi’s leadership,” he asserted.
Bagmati province assembly member Dipendra Shrestha said the Park which has well-managed toilets and Phalcha reflecting the Newari architecture will be an appropriate space for the senior citizens of Baneshwar, Buddhanagar and Babarmahal area to
stroll around and spend time.
Ward Chair Hiralal Tandukar said KMC Ward-11 will manage and look after the Park.
