Kathmandu: Officiating Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Ram Prasad Bhandari has emphasized the significant role of the media in fostering an environment conducive to the upcoming elections. He highlighted this during a discussion with the RSS, focusing on the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5, 2026.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Bhandari stressed the importance of the media in disseminating factual and credible information to citizens, particularly those in remote areas, to raise awareness about the election’s significance and necessity. He underscored the pivotal role of the RSS, the country’s sole national news agency, in creating a favorable environment for the successful conduct of the election. Bhandari expressed confidence that the RSS would continue to fulfill its responsibilities as it has done in previous elections.
The Officiating CEC noted that this election is being conducted under special circumstances, necessitating timely and reliable dissemination of information regarding electoral preparations, citizen security, and voter education. These elements are crucial for establishing the conditions required for a successful election.
The discussion included participation from Election Commissioners Dr. Janaki Kumari Tuladhar and Sagun Shumsher JB Rana, along with Commission Secretary Mahadev Pantha. The focus was on enhancing collaboration between the RSS and the Election Commission to ensure the election is conducted in a free, impartial, and fearless environment.
On this occasion, RSS General Manager Sandip Rai affirmed that the RSS has consistently supported the electoral process, which he described as the “life of democracy,” by performing its role effectively. RSS Chief Reporter Narayan Prasad Neupane was also present at the discussion.
