Minister Dahal Advocates for Infrastructure-Driven Economic Growth


KATHMANDU: Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Devendra Dahal, has emphasized the importance of linking infrastructure development with economic growth, highlighting the need for sustainable, safe, and impactful projects. Dahal made these remarks during a program celebrating the 22nd anniversary of the Roads Board Nepal.



According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister Dahal underscored that Nepal is still in a developmental phase, necessitating a focus on infrastructure projects that directly benefit the populace, enhance revenue collection, and contribute to economic growth. He stressed the importance of prioritizing projects that serve a broad section of the population and geography. Furthermore, he called for the swift management of underperforming tenders and urged the Roads Board to expedite road repairs alongside monitoring efforts.



National Planning Commission Vice-Chair Dr. Shibaraj Adhikari echoed Dahal’s sentiments, stating that roadways are a fundamental component of economic growth. He emphasized the expansion of road connectivity in ways that foster economic development. Dr. Adhikari also advocated for stability and quality in infrastructure investments, suggesting that such investments will yield significant results.



Board Executive Director Ganesh KC pointed out the necessity for the government to ensure the autonomy of the Roads Board. During the event, the Board released its annual report for the previous fiscal year, outlining achievements and challenges in infrastructure development.
