MuAN and NARMIN Representatives Call on Prime Minister Karki for Election Preparation Discussions


Kathmandu: Prime Minister Sushila Karki held discussions with people’s representatives of the local level government today. Discussion was held with office-bearers of the National Association of Rural Municipalities in Nepal (NARMIN) and the Municipalities Association of Nepal (MuAN) in Baluwatar on Monday afternoon, shared the Prime Minister’s Press Coordinator Ram Bahadur Rawal.



According to National News Agency Nepal, the discussions focused on the works being carried out by local level governments, the challenges they are facing, and the preparations for the upcoming elections. All present at the meeting expressed unanimous support for continuing with a spirit of cooperation, coordination, and coexistence among federal, provincial, and local governments. The representatives were keen on maintaining good governance and law and order, which they believe is essential for creating a conducive environment for the elections.



Local level representatives expressed satisfaction with the government’s efforts under Prime Minister Karki’s leadership to prepare for the elections, showing appreciation for her role. They also expressed optimism about the government’s continued support and leadership.



Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal and Law Minister Anil Kumar Sinha were also present. Home Minister Aryal urged local level governments to assist in maintaining law and order and in providing information regarding the government’s efforts to locate weapons and about 5,000 prisoners. Prime Minister Karki emphasized the significance of the local level in the electoral process, stressing that progress cannot be made without coordination and cooperation with local representatives. She assured them that their concerns would be addressed and highlighted the necessity of including all parties in a party system for moving forward.



The meeting was attended by officials including Laxmi Devi Pandey, President of NARMIN, and Bhim Prasad Dhungana, President of MuAN.
