Muktinath Chariot Procession Embarks on Nationwide Religious Journey

Muktinath:Mustang A nationwide religious procession has commenced from Muktinath in the Mustang district. The event aims to promote religious tourism, foster national unity, and preserve Nepal’s Vedic traditions, along with supporting the establishment of a Vedic university.

According to National News Agency RSS, the ‘Shree Gajendramoksha Narayan Muktinath Rath Yatra’, initiated by Swami Kamalnayanacharya, who is the Head of the Muktinath shrine, began last Sunday. This procession is organized by the Nepal Pilgrimage Site Development National Committee at his initiative and has already traveled through Panchakot in the Baglung district.

The religious journey is set to traverse from Mechi in the east to Mahakali in the west, covering various religious, cultural, and historical sites across the country before concluding on November 15 at Shree Gajendramoksha Dham in Trivenidham, Nawalpur. Swami Kamalnayanacharya emphasized that the campaign is intended not only for religious observances but also to promote national unity, social harmony, and mutual tolerance.

Swami Kamalnayanacharya also mentioned that the initiative seeks to preserve traditional cultural values and introduce younger generations to Nepal’s rich religious heritage. The procession is expected to strengthen cultural and religious ties among historic pilgrimage destinations, encourage domestic tourism, and support local economic activities.

Throughout the procession route, holy water and prasad (sacred offerings) from Muktinath will be distributed to devotees. A grand Mahayagya, a major Vedic fire ritual, is scheduled to begin at Shree Gajendramoksha Dham on November 15 to aid the establishment of a Vedic university in Nepal. The religious ceremony will continue until mid-December.

Swami Kamalnayanacharya has called on devotees and those interested in Sanatan culture to visit the procession’s stops, receive blessings, and join the campaign.
