Kathmandu: The Nepal Association of Financial Journalists (NAFIJ) has delivered a report entitled ‘Roadmap of the Economy after the Gen-Z Movement’ to the government. The document, which examines the economic impact of the destruction that took place during the Gen-Z protest demonstrations across the country on 23rd and 24th Bhadra (September 8 and 9), was presented to Finance Minister Rameshore Khanal today by NAFIJ chair Menuka Karki.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Karki highlighted that the economy, which had been on a path to recovery following the earthquake, blockade, and COVID, faced additional setbacks due to the disruptions caused during the ‘Gen-Z’ protests, stressing the urgent need for substantial resources to address these damages.
Finance Minister Khanal remarked that if the losses incurred from this protest are not covered by insurance or the financial system, the government will step in to provide necessary assistance. He also noted that the government is in the process of gathering official data regarding the damages, and once the details of the losses are compiled, support will be extended to affected businesses.
