Naimur Rahman resigns from BCB


Naimur Rahman, popularly known as Durjoy has

tendered his resignation as board director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board

(BCB), citing personal reasons.

“I have resigned from the BCB due to personal reasons. I sent my resignation

letter to the BCB CEO last night,” Durjoy, the first Test captain of

Bangladesh told the reporters today.

Earlier, BCB president Nazmul Hassan Papon and Women’s Wing chairman Shafiul

Alam Chowdhury Nadel resigned from their post following the ouster of the

Sheikh Hasina-led government.

Jalal Yunus also stepped down after National Sports Council (NSC) asked him

to do so. Yunus came to BCB after being nominated by NSC.

NSC also withdrew the nomination of Ahmed Sajjadul Alam Bobby and replaced

the duo with Faruque Ahmed and Nazmul Abedeen Fahim. Later, Faruque was

elected BCB president.

Despite being snubbed party nomination in the last election, Naimur Rahman

was elected MP from Manikganj-1 constituency in 2014 and 2019 elections from

Awami League.

But before being elec
ted as MP, he was in the BCB board of directors and

served Cricketers Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB) as its president

for long.
