National Gold Cup Football Finals Held in Bhola


Bhola: The final match of the National Gold Cup Football Tournament (U-17 boys’, girls’) was held at Bhola government college ground today. The tournament, showcasing young football talent, featured teams from seven upazilas and Bhola municipality, organized by the Bhola district administration and district sports office. The event was held under the slogan ‘Let’s change the country, change the world’ with the aim of building a new Bangladesh.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, in the boys’ group final, Bhola Sadar Upazila emerged as champions by defeating Charfashion Upazila with a score of 2-0. In the girls’ group, the Bhola Municipality girls’ team claimed victory over Bhola Sadar Upazila in a penalty shootout after a closely contested match.



After the finals, Bhola’s additional deputy commissioner, Mobaswer Alam, distributed prizes to the winners. Bhola government college’s acting principal, Professor Muhammad Mohiuddin, attended the event as the guest of honour. Other notable attendees included Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Ripon Chandra Sarkar, District Sports Officer Saidul Islam, former general secretary of Bhola District Sports Association Yarul Alam Liton, additional general secretary Muntasir Alam Chowdhury Rabin, and ad-hoc committee member Talha Talukder Bandhan.



The tournament saw participation from a total of sixteen teams, comprising fourteen teams from the district’s seven upazilas and two teams from Bhola municipality, highlighting the enthusiasm and competitive spirit among the young athletes.
