National Unity Within Diversity Emphasized by NA Chair Dahal


Kathmandu: Chairperson of the National Assembly (NA), Narayan Prasad Dahal, has expressed hope that the Udhauli festival, Yomari Punhi, and Jyapu Day being observed today will contribute to strengthening mutual goodwill, social bonding, and thereby national unity. Extending his best wishes on the occasion of Udhauli, a significant cultural festival of the Kirat community, and Yomari Punhi of the Newar community, as well as Jyapu Day, the Upper House Chair wished all Nepali sisters and brothers at home and abroad peace, happiness, prosperity, and longevity.



According to National News Agency Nepal, Dahal emphasized Nepal’s identity as a multi-ethnic, multi-religious, and multi-cultural independent nation, highlighting the Constitution’s guarantee of each citizen’s right to participate in the cultural life of their respective community. He noted the significance of agriculture highlighted by both the Udhauli and Yomari festivals.



Similarly, Vice Chairperson of the National Assembly, Bimala Ghimire, expressed her wishes that the festivals inspire the nation towards achieving the goal of building a prosperous future, emphasizing that such aspirations can only be realized through an active and responsible parliament. In her message of best wishes on the occasion of Udhauli, the NA Vice Chairperson conveyed her hopes for happiness, peace, good health, and longevity to all Nepali sisters and brothers living at home and abroad.
