Kathmandu: The Nepal Bar Association (NBA) has announced its dissatisfaction with the recent appointments of judges by the Judicial Council, stating that it cannot support the appointments until the amended regulations are revoked.
According to National News Agency Nepal, NBA General Secretary Kedar Prasad Koirala released a press statement indicating that the organization is concerned about the Judicial Council’s decision to appoint 27 judges to the high court. The NBA has expressed that this decision is not welcome.
The NBA has called for the immediate annulment of the amended regulations, labeling them as discriminatory. It has also demanded the implementation of a transparent, objective, predictable, and measurable process, adhering to the principle of inclusive proportionality, for the appointment of judges.
The NBA has voiced strong objections to the Judicial Council, accusing it of ignoring their concerns.
