Kathmandu: Chief Whip of the Nepali Congress (NC), Shyam Kumar Ghimire, has apologized for his statement delivered in the House of Representatives (HoR) on March 16. During today’s session, Ghimire expressed regret for his remarks made during ’emergency time’ in the meeting, where he advocated for the legalization of sex trade in the country.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Ghimire clarified that the opinion was personal and did not represent the stance of the Nepali Congress party in Parliament. He apologized for his statement, acknowledging that it had offended members of parliament and other communities. “I apologize for the statement with the realization that it has hurt the sentiments of members of parliament and other communities,” he stated.
