Kathmandu: Nepal has clinched the Women’s Twenty20 International Series against Malaysia, emerging victorious by five wickets in the fifth and decisive match held at Bayuemas Oval Cricket Ground in Malaysia.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Nepal secured the series with a 3-2 win against Malaysia. Chasing a victory target of 104 runs set by Malaysia, Nepal achieved the goal in 18 overs, losing five wickets in the process. Key contributions came from Rubi Poddar with 26 runs, Puja Mahato with 23 runs, Rubina Chhetri who remained not out at 15, and Samjhana Khadka with 13 runs. Malaysia’s bowlers, including Ainna Hamizah, Nur Dania Syuhada, Aisya Eleesa Erni Firdaus, and Nur Alya, managed to take one wicket each.
Earlier in the match, Malaysia opted to bat first after winning the toss. They posted a total of 103 runs in their allotted 20 overs, losing seven wickets. Winifred was the top scorer for Malaysia with 40 runs, supported by Mahira Izzati Ismail with 19 runs, Ainna Hamizah with 15, and Nur Dania Syuhada with 11 runs. Nepal’s bowling attack was spearheaded by Kabita Kunwar and Rajmati Airee, both taking three wickets each, while Rachana Chaudhary claimed one wicket.
