Nepal-Italy Chamber of Commerce & Industry AGM Concludes with Strong Commitments


Kathmandu: The 11th Annual General Meeting of Nepal-Italy Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NICCI) was held here today. The meeting expressed its commitment to promote investment in Nepal, expand the tourism sector, and strengthen trade relations between Nepal and Italy.



According to National News Agency Nepal, the President of NICCI, Sanjay Agarwal, shared insights into the journey of political and economic relations between Nepal and Italy, emphasizing the need for further strengthening these ties. NICCI plays a crucial role in balancing trade relations between the two nations.



Bilateral trade relations between Nepal and Italy were established on 31 August 1959. Agarwal highlighted Italy’s significant contributions to Nepal’s economic development, particularly after the establishment of democracy in 1990 and following the 2015 earthquake.



General Secretary of NICCI, Manoj Shrestha Bhadel, expressed gratitude for Italy’s long-term support in the reconstruction of Nepal’s cultural, historical, and physical heritage. He noted Italy’s significant role in preserving Nepal’s heritage and expressed confidence that this cooperation would remain a symbol of enduring friendship.



During the general assembly, individuals and institutions contributing to Nepal-Italy economic relations were honored. Patron of the association Rajesh Kaji Shrestha and Honorary Consul Pratibha Pandey received distinguished honors, while Ashanka Shumsher JBR was recognized as the ‘Outstanding Member of the Year’ for 2024.
