Nepal Layers Poultry Farmers Association Raises Egg Prices Amid Festive Season Demand

Pokhara:The wholesale support price of eggs in Nepal has increased in response to heightened demand during the festive and winter seasons.

According to National News Agency RSS, the Nepal Layers Poultry Farmers Association decided to increase the support price of eggs following a meeting held on Thursday in Pokhara. This meeting revised the prices previously set on October 23 in Kathmandu. The Association Chairperson, Binod Pokharel, announced the new prices, citing increased market demand as the primary reason.

Under the new pricing structure, the cost of XL-size, large-size, and medium-size eggs has risen by Rs 200 per carton, while small eggs have seen an increase of Rs 100 per carton. Specifically, the support price for XL eggs, weighing between 14.5-14.8 kilogrammes, is now Rs 3,900, up from Rs 3,700. Large eggs, weighing 13.5-13.8 kilogrammes, are priced at Rs 3,800, compared to the previous Rs 3,600. Medium-size eggs, weighing 12.5-12.8 kilogrammes, are now set at Rs 3,700, up from Rs 3,500. Additionally, eggs weighing above 11 kilogrammes are now priced at Rs 3,200, an increase from the earlier Rs 3,100.

The consumer price for large-size eggs has been set at Rs 25 per piece and Rs 45 for two medium-size eggs. Despite the support price increase, retail prices for eggs have not been adjusted.
