Nepal Secures First Victory in Four-Nation Women’s T-20 Cricket Against Uganda


Kampala: Nepal achieved its first victory in the ongoing Four-Nation Women’s T-20 Cricket Tournament held in Uganda by narrowly defeating the host nation, Uganda, by one wicket. This triumph came in Nepal’s second game of the tournament.



According to National News Agency Nepal, Nepal had previously suffered a defeat against Namibia, losing by six wickets. In this closely contested match, Uganda set a target of 76 runs with the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Nepal successfully chased down the target, reaching 77 runs with the loss of nine wickets in 19.5 overs.



The standout performance for Nepal came from Sana Prabin, who contributed 17 runs, while Puja Mahato and Rubina Chhetri added 16 and 10 runs, respectively. On the bowling front, Puja Mahato played a crucial role by taking three wickets, and team captain Indu Verma supported with two wickets.



This match marked Uganda’s first defeat in the series, having previously defeated Hong Kong. The tournament features four countries: Nepal, Namibia, Hong Kong, and the host nation, Uganda. Each team will play two games against every other team in the series.



Looking ahead, Nepal is set to face Hong Kong on March 10. Following that, Nepal will play against Namibia on March 12, Uganda again on March 13, and Hong Kong once more on March 14. The top two teams with the highest scores at the end of the series will compete in the final match.



The Nepali women’s cricket team includes players such as Captain Indu Verma, Rubina Chhetri, Puja Mahato, Alisha Kumari Yadav, Sana Prabin, Roma Thapa, Bindu Rawal, Samjhana Khadka, Mamata Chaudhary, Kabita Joshi, Riya Sharma, Rajamati Airee, Rachana Chaudhary, and Ishwori Bista.
