Nepali Karate Team Set to Compete in World Karate Federation Series in Kuala Lumpur


Kathmandu: A Nepali Karate Team is set to depart for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to participate in the World Karate Federation (WKF) Karate 1 Series ‘A’. The event, hosted by the Malaysia Karate Federation, will take place from October 3-5.



According to National News Agency Nepal, four Nepali women Karate players will represent their country in the competition. Erika Gurung will compete in the above 68 kg category, Barsha Budha Magar in the below 50 kg category, Sabina Shrestha in the below 55 kg category, and Sanu Maya Thing will participate in the single kata event.



The team will be guided by coach Kushal Shrestha, while Tara Gurung will serve as the umpire. In a farewell ceremony, Member-Secretary of the National Sports Council, Tanka Lal Ghising, along with President of the Nepal National and International Players Association, Deepak Shrestha, extended their best wishes to the departing players.



The team is scheduled to leave for Malaysia on Wednesday, ready to showcase their skills on an international platform.
