Kathmandu: The Nepali national cricket team has been granted visas to travel to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to participate in the Unity Cup International T20 series against the West Indies. The team is set to depart for the UAE today.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the UAE had temporarily suspended the issuance of tourist and labor visas to Nepali citizens following the Gen-Z demonstrations held on September 8-9. This decision had initially affected the national cricket team’s travel arrangements. However, the visas were granted on Sunday following an appeal from the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN).
CAN spokesperson Chhumbi Lama stated that the team is expected to arrive in the UAE by Tuesday. Nepal will compete in three T20 matches against the UAE, facing off against the two-time ICC T20 World Cup champions on September 27, 29, and 30.
All matches are scheduled to take place at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
