Lisbon: A 34-year-old Nepali man, Jitendra Pandey, who had been residing in Portugal for employment, has been reported missing. Pandey, originally from Pipalpani, Bhanu Municipality-9, in Nepal’s Tanahu district, had been living in Portugal for the past two years.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Pandey’s colleague, Bidur Tamang, reported that Pandey has been unaccounted for since last Monday in the Sintra area, near Lisbon. Tamang explained that Pandey returned home last Sunday night, mentioning a call from a friend before leaving the house. Since then, he has not been heard from.
Tamang further mentioned that after losing contact with Pandey, they reached out to his family in Nepal. The family informed them that Pandey had called a relative, mentioning that he would be unreachable for a few days. Despite this, there has been no communication from him since.
The local police were alerted on Tuesday through Pandey’s employer to initiate a search. His personal documents, including his residency card, bank card, passport, and other belongings, were discovered in his residence.
Nepali Ambassador to Portugal, Prakash Mani Paudel, confirmed that the embassy promptly informed the local police once they were aware of Pandey’s disappearance. Ambassador Paudel assured that the embassy is actively working to locate Pandey. Before his disappearance, Pandey was employed at a packing company in Sintra. His family, consisting of elderly parents and sisters, remains in Nepal, hoping for his safe return.
