New Bridge Over Saptakoshi River to Enhance Connectivity Between Saptari and Sunsari

Accra:Kathmandu A new three-kilometer bridge is set to be constructed over the Saptakoshi River, connecting Kanchanpur of Saptari to Rajabas of Sunsari. This infrastructure project will serve as an alternative to the existing Koshi Barrage Bridge, which currently links the Saptari and Sunsari districts.

According to National News Agency RSS, the bridge project is based on a detailed project report prepared a few years ago and will cost an estimated Rs 43 billion. The Asian Development Bank is providing financial support for the construction of this bridge.

Once operational, the new bridge will reduce travel distance along the East-West Highway by 14 kilometers. Director Chuda Raj Dhakal from the Department of Roads Project Directorate stated that technical preparations are underway for the construction of the bridge and a 43-kilometer road. These efforts are part of the overall project involving the development of special types of bridges and roads.

Currently, procedural activities necessary for the construction of the bridge and road structures are progressing.
