Nishcal Rai of Nepali Congress Secures Victory in Ilam-1 HoR Election

Kathmandu: The Nepali Congress (NC) candidate has emerged victorious in the House of Representatives (HoR) election from Ilam constituency-1. Nishcal Rai, representing the NC, secured 14,543 votes, surpassing his closest rival, Binod Kumar Nembang of the Shram Sanskriti Party, who obtained 13,632 votes.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the Election Officer’s Office declared the final results at 4:30 pm today. This victory marks a significant milestone for the Nepali Congress, as it is the first time in 26 years that the party has won the HoR election in Ilam-1. Meanwhile, CPN (UML) candidate Kajiman Kagate secured the third position with 11,966 votes, while the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) garnered 7,665 votes.

The election in this constituency saw the participation of 13 candidates from 13 different political parties. However, apart from the top contenders, the remaining candidates were unable to secure more than 1,000 votes each. Out of the 112,320 registered voters in Ilam-1, a total of 64,104 individuals cast their votes in the election held on March 5.
