Kirtipur: Defending champions Janakpur Bolts scored 130 in 20 overs in the inaugural match of the Nepal Premier League 2025, a franchise-based Twenty20 cricket tournament, that began in Kirtipur earlier today.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Janakpur was put into bat after losing the toss against Kathmandu Gorkhas and managed to put up a par score, primarily due to a half-century by Aasif Sheikh, who scored 54 runs in 41 balls. Mayan Yadav, with 24 not out, and Lahiru Samarakoon, who scored 22, were the only other batters to reach double figures.
On the bowling front, Milind Kumar led the attack for Kathmandu Gorkhas, taking 3 wickets and conceding only 15 runs within his complete 4-over spell. His teammates Karan KC, Shahab Alam, and Santosh Yadav each contributed with a wicket.
The match is currently being played at the TU International Cricket Ground under floodlights, marking a first for cricket matches in the country. The NPL 2025 is set to run until December 13.
