Kathmandu: The Nepal School Employees Council (NSEC) today approached the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in Kesharmahal, presenting a series of demands to Education Minister Dr. Mahabir Pun. The Council emphasized the need to address the persistent issues faced by school employees, highlighting agreements previously made with former governments.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Central President of the Council, Ganga Ram Tiwari, conveyed that Education Minister Pun assured the delegation of his commitment to resolving these issues. The Minister intends to engage in discussions to better understand the challenges faced by school employees. However, he cautioned the NSEC not to have high expectations from the current government, as its primary focus is on the upcoming elections.
Ram Sharan Phunyal, President of the Bagmati Province Committee of the Council, noted that they proposed to Minister Pun the possibility of transforming the role of school accountants with computer skills into computer teacher positions. This suggestion aligns with the Minister’s recent directive to establish a computer teacher quota in every community school.
The ongoing efforts to address the problems of school employees are reflected in the School Education Bill currently under review in the Federal Parliament. However, due to the dissolution of the House of Representatives, the passage of the bill remains uncertain.
