One-Door System Proposed to Enhance Industrial Growth in Nepal

Kathmandu: Chairman of the Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Chandra Prasad Dhakal, has advocated for the implementation of a one-door policy to boost industrial activities in Nepal. Speaking at an event organized by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supply to mark the 11th National Industry Day, Dhakal emphasized that the current multi-door system requires industrialists to visit multiple government offices, causing unnecessary delays and frustrations for investors and entrepreneurs.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Chairman Dhakal highlighted the inefficiencies created by the presence of numerous government institutions handling similar tasks, which hinders the creation of an industry-friendly environment. He stressed that the recent protests on September 8-9 adversely affected the national economy, underscoring the urgent need for the State to ensure both individual and industrial security. Dhakal warned that without guaranteeing safety, attracting further investments would be challenging. He also expressed concerns about the export market and urged the government to continue providing financial grants.

Despite these challenges, Dhakal acknowledged the positive initiative by the government in establishing a fund to promote startups and innovation. He affirmed FNCCI’s commitment to collaborating with the government to foster employment opportunities through the development of entrepreneurship.
