One gets life-term in C’nawabganj drugs case

A Chapainawabganj court on Sunday

afternoon sentenced a man to life-term imprisonment in a case filed over

drugs smuggling here in 2021.

The convicted person was Shahidul Islam, 45, son of late Shahjahan Ali of

Hakimpur village under Shahjahanpur union of Chapainawabganj sadar upazila.

The court also fined Shahidul Taka 50,000, in default, to suffer two years

more in jail.

Senior District and Sessions Judge Md. Adeeb Ali gave the verdict in presence

of the convict.

According to the prosecution story, in brief, is that acting on a tip off, an

operation team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) conducted a raid in the

aforesaid area on October 2, 2021 and arrested Shahidul with 500 grams of

heroin.

On the day, Nayeb Subedar Md. Ansar Ali of RAB-05 filed a case with

Chapainawabganj Sadar Police Station.

Investigating Officer (IO) of the case Sub-inspector Ashish Sarker submitted

a charge sheet against Shahidul to the court on October 26, 2021.

After a long hearing, the court handed down the punishmen
