Achham: A person has been arrested on the charge of his involvement in deforestation by making a fake document of Panchulli Chaitepatal community forest committee in the district. The arrested individual is Chhatra Raj Timalsena, who also serves as the secretary of a local forest users’ committee.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Chief of Division Forest Office, Achham, Janak Padhya, revealed that Timalsena was found making a fake document and taking permission from the Forest Office to cut down and sell chotro, a tree with medicinal value. Timalsena has been detained at the District Police Office based on a letter from the Division Forest Office, and an investigation into the case has been initiated.
A total of 4,000 kg of chotro, including its stalk, leaves, and bark, was collected from the community forest. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the involvement of other individuals in acquiring permission to sell forest products and preparing fake documents.
