Online Voter’s Name List Registration Through National ID Card Begins

Kathmandu: The citizens who wish to register themselves in the voter’s name list can now do so through their National Identity Card. In a post on her social networking site today, Prime Minister Sushila Karki announced that an online service has been launched to facilitate voter name list registration by citizens themselves.

According to National News Agency Nepal, with this service in place, citizens holding a national identity card will no longer be required to visit the Office of the Election Commission for biometric records. The registration process will be conducted in four distinct phases to ensure accuracy and convenience.

The first phase will involve connecting the details of the national identity card to the voter’s identity card. The second phase will focus on correcting any discrepancies following the verification of details. In the third phase, citizens can upload necessary documents if there are changes in their voting center, residence, or marital status.

Finally, in the fourth and last phase, the voter’s name list registration process will be completed through the online submission of the form with all requisite details.
